Wilko
What's the reason that I'm getting through lots of PH minus at the moment...........20 litres in 2 weeks, getting a bit pricey though water quality perfection. Thanks for your helpWilko
Théière
To try and answer the acid demand question we need a full analysis of your water. Quite a bit of France has hard water high in alkalinity. If you have recently re-filled some of the water or indeed have a leak which is being re-filled automatically then it's easy. With the amount of rain we have had (rain is usually acidic ) then the reverse would be true.Sorry but more info needed.
Wilko
T. thanks for the response and sorry to be so tardy in replying. Problem solved the control was in need of recalibration, also raised PH from 7.2 to 7.5.ThanksWilko
Théière
That's good, do you find pH is more stable at 7.5?
Wilko
I was advised by my local pool shop to raise the Ph level because of the hot weather. All looks good and consumption pf PH- way down.W
Théière
All pools operate slightly differently due to local water, if the pool feels more stable pH wise then it does save on pH- so no worries on that score. The hardness and alkalinity get reduced over time by pH- additions so maintaining a slightly lower pH becomes easier and uses less ph- to do so. Raising the pH for hot weather?? why would you reduce the effectiveness of the sanitiser when it's warm, the great thing about chlorine is it has two useful parts the sanitiser works better at lower pH and the oxidiser side works better at a slightly higher pH. I can only assume that in hot weather they think the oxidising side is more effective due to sun creams etc as chemical reactions are quicker in hot weather so off gassing would also occur quicker causing a quicker rise in pH. It's within range though so if the ph- usage has reduced all is good.
