Stefan
We are in the process of registering with CPAM for health cover and we have been asked us to prove that our 7 and 4 year old offspring are indeed ours! We have their Birth Certificates, CPAM has seen them, but since the modern, "short" UK Birth Certificate no longer carries details of the childrens' parents they require further evidence!Has anyone else with young children run into this problem and if so how did they solve it?Stefan
Teamedup
LAST EDITED ON 30-Mar-03 AT 08:30 PM (GMT)Yes, you need full birth certificates.I remember in the 1970's getting a 'short' birth certificate when we couldn't find the copy of the full one, so they are nothing new. Also we had to have our birth certificates, in fact all our certificates translated by an official translator into french. I don't believe that all the depts ask for this. Do not have the short cut birth certificates translated, there is no point.

Jongleur
Hi Jongleuse here,Fortunately we had both long and short birth certicates for our children. The long version has both parents names on, which is the reason for asking for it - this is the only one that both CPAM and the prefecture (for our CDS) in our department(16 Charente) will accept for adults or children. It is the official acte de naissance! You should apply to the UK authorities for birth registration - forget the name of the place now, used to be Somerset House or something like that, but think it has changed. Check yellow pages or the web. No doubt for a fee they will be able to supply you with copies of the correct birth certificates.RegardsJongleuse
