Lautrec
Suffering as I do from arthritis, I found that I could get relief through acupuncture when I was domiciled in the UK. I was wondering therefore if anyone knows of a acupuncturist within a 30k radius of Ruffec, in the Charente.I am aware that there are some in Angouleme, but there is a chance that there now might be some ex-pats newly arrived in this area with the neccessary qualifications and as yet not registered in the yellow pages! I wouldbe very grateful for any information from a practicioner or a patient!
Tourangelle
I know in the UK acupuncture is practised by people who do not necessarily have medical qualifications. I don't think that is so much the case here. My husband is very keen on acupuncture and I know that he goes to see a GP who specialises in acupucture. The advantage of course is that you are sure they are qualified doctor, and not just somebody who fancies trying their hand, and they can give you prescriptions too. They are not very well reimbursed, but you can get some money back from the social security. If you look in your yellow pages under médecins: médecines générale orientation acupuncture you could find some.
Lautrec
Merci Jane,What you say makes sense. A needle in the wrong pressure point could be harmful. I see there are four practitioners in the local yellow pages, but they are all in the middle of Angouleme. I was hoping for some one more local. But needs be when the devil drives and I will make an appointment if nothing else turns up! Thank you anyway for your input!

Iceni
Can I also ask if anyone knows one in the north of the Lot (near St Céré or Figeac). I had acupuncture from my Chiropractor in the UK and it helped my knee problem no end.
Lautrec
Hello Helen,We have corresponded in the past and I know that you live not far away from where I live. I would be very grateful indeed if you did come up with the address of a local Acurpuncturist or possible an Osteopath. You should know this district much better than I do as we have only lived in this area for a short while. An early poster suggested that I trip down to Angouleme. I am prepared eventually to make this comitment if need be, but I must bear in mind that a course of treatment would mean 5 or 6 visits so it would be to my advantage if I could get treatment locally.A big thank you to all those that have added to this topic!
