Dave&Olive
hi all after reading past posts my wife has applied for an e121, newcastle have said yes ok and they have agreed to put me on it as a dependant although i am not yet 60 . Now the question will we still need to " TOP UP " our health cover , should I apply as well for a e106 as I do not intend to pack in work until the day we leave for france this month , and have had only 6 days on the dole in my life I do not intend to be "idle" whilst out there but have allowed us say 18months to renovate our property out there before I decide what my options are and might even end up paying in to the french system from income earned in france I also have the option to take out a pension from a previous employer in june 2006 although I would like to leave this in as long as possible, and pay say my stamp in the uk or france for when I reach 65 any ideas dave
Shane
I have an E121 and my husband was placed on it also as my dependant.I always got 100% reimbursement for doctors, dentist, hospital etc but my husband received 65% reimbursement. We thought about a top up but the cost per month was twice as much as than the cost of my husbands medication per month so we did not take one. Then he had a heart attack and was in hospital for a week and had an angioplast. Whilst he was in hospital I took out a top up and they have paid everything 100% ever since. We were lucky also that our french doctor wrote to the CPAM and recommended my husband for 100% cover for his treatment for the next 12 months and they agreed and changed our cover. If he required any other medication for a different illness or dentist or whatever that would be covered on the top up insurance. So basically my advice is yes take a top up too.CarolDordogne on Line

Hereford
Unles one qualifies for 100% reimbursement for specific listed diseases then 65% is the amount you, and every French person gets back! Some items from the pharmacy (including my hay fever pills) are only reimbursed 35%. That is why most people have a top-up insurance.H.
