Quillan
I have probably got this totally wrong but stick with me on this and see what you think or if I have understood it correctly/incorrectly.I received a letter today from AGF with whom I have my 'top up' insurance. In fact I got a letter and a nice brochure to go with it which explains the changes to health care charges from 1st Jan 2006.What I beleive it is basically telling me is two things.First, you must go through your own doctor to get to any specialist and that if you use a different doctor unless it's for an emergency, he is ill or on holiday the charge will be 32€ instead of the new 27€ charge. Some sort of calculation is then worked out that leaves you with a excess of 10.30€ that you have to pay and is not covered by either the social or your mutual.Secondly, if you are then sent for treatment but either fail to go or stop before completion you will also be penalized in as much as the whole course of treatment is charged, less the value (at a higher rate) for the actual treatment you have had and the balance becomes due to you.I have probably got this a bit wrong but if Peter is out thre he may be able to shed some light on it.
