Info required on the difference between furnished and unfurnished long-term rentals in France from a Landord's perspective

I suspect  there are major differrences in France between renting furnished or unfurnished from a Landord's perspective

Could anyone throw more light on this particular aspect of residential  house renting, restricting the lease/contract to say 1 year  purely from a landlord's point of view

Thanks in anticipation.

Just before finally moving here to France, we were able to rent out our unfurnished chalet for one year BUT only after we had signed an undertaking that a) it was our principal residence and b) that we were retiring and needed the property for our own habitation. Otherwise it was back to the [unfurnished] stipulation that the landlord has to agree to a contract of 3 years, whereas the tenant can [and often does in our experience] leave after they have found something to their liking to buy in the area. Once again, confirmation that the tenants have all the rights in France and the landlords virtually none. We have never let furnished, but then we wouldn't as we value our possessions!
