Suze01 Posted February 10, 2007 Share Posted February 10, 2007 You are in the Dordogne and Angouleme is in the Charente (I think[8-)]), so as you are equal distance between the two I don't know if there would be any issues in going to a different department's (even Region's) hospital. Teamedup Posted February 10, 2007 Share Posted February 10, 2007 Each village or town, 'depends' on a certain hospital. ie if you take ill then the sapeur pompiers will take you to the one in your hospitals, is it catchment area. You could ofcourse request a different hospital, but there will be one that they will usually use. It is a funny old system. Our friends live on the doorstep of a hospital, and can go there, but would be taken to another 8 miles away if they called the secours. Ask your doctor. We are supposed to register with GP's now anyway and you should get a referal if you want to see a specialist these days. You needn't but it costs more if you don't.
