Gastines
I've no doubt someone out there can give some advice on the following...Friends who live in Jersey but spend many months here at their house in Brittany would like to know what the position is regarding health cover. Can they join a Mutual and get any cover/benefit for doctor visits or medicines? Aparently there isn't anything like the E111 or E121 for OAP's from Jersey. Any point in them joining or is it just better to pay for needs as required?Regards.
Sunday Driver
As residents of the Channel Islands, your friends do not qualify for an EHIC, nor do they qualify for registration for French state health insurance (which is a prerequisite for obtaining complimentary "mutuelle" cover). Unless someone like Peter Owen can suggest an alternative, I suspect their only options are to either arrange some travel insurance to cover them on their visits or pay for any treatment themselves. Sprogster
There is a very good reciprocal health agreement between Jersey and France whereby Jersey residents are covered in France for any emergency hospital treatment on the same basis as a French resident. This does not cover visits to GP's, however the cost of visting a GP in France is less than Jersey so this is probably not a problem.
