Geranium
My husband is self-employed and a fair way from retirement yet. We would like to take out critical illness cover soon as we are totally dependent on the income he earns. In UK I would go to a broker or various websites to help us make a decision. Can anyone suggest what we should do in France? We have a freindly guy at AXA but they may not be the best choice.
Jonzjob
Have you heard of BIBA, British Insurance Brokers Aquitain. They do cover from Exclusive Health Care. Both are English brokers working here in France, fully intergrated in and with the French system and very helpful, in English!Nowt but a satisfied customer. If you are interested just PM me and I will give you the contact details.
AnOther
If what's available in France is anything like the products offered in UK then generally it's not available to the self employed. Also, as so many people have discoverd to their cost, all to often this insurance proves utterly worthless at the very point they need it.I think your own advice for UK is equally valid here, the problem being finding someone who can give you honest information and the unbiased advice you need. Who that turns out to be will probably be highly influenced by your competancy in the language. If it's poor or mediocre then go with one of companies who specialise in Expat affairs.I'm afraid I can't be more specific, I could get me banned [;-)]
Jonzjob
The 2 above do exactly that Ernie. Don't know about self employed, unless retirement comes under that banner, peut etra par???
