preston
Hello. We are in the process of purchasing a small gite business which is already up and running. For the first few months my husband will be continuing with his job in England and I will be living in France with the children. My husband will be paying tax in England . Can we still apply for our Carte Vitales while he is working and getting paid in England, as we really want to get into the French system as soon as possible. Any information will be very appreciated.
Will
If your husband is paying National Insurance as well as tax, he should be able to get a E form to cover you. Most likely E109, but some people in your situation have been issued with E106. That might not get you an actual carte vitale, but you will get into the system with a French SS number that will enable you to pay for treatment, prescriptions etc and get the standard percentage refunded. With an SS number you should be able to take out top up insurance to cover the non-refunded part.
