ams
Telephoned the embassy this morning in Paris (Irish) and just received a call back. They are not aware of any new rules that will affect their citizen's. They intend investigating the matter as soon as possible and will be contacting the appropriate French departments for information. If a change in the law has come into effect then they intend ensuring that the information will be available to all future potential citizens that may be contemplating a move to France. lutton
It would appear that changes are taking place and it will affect all those living in France who have chosen to retire early and be finacially self supporting. The upshot is that they may withdraw the basic health rights to these people and demand tehy have private insurance cover. We have lived here for 4 years and received a letter last week from the cmu requesting loads of information like proof of living here, income, etc. Full story is the 'connextion' the monthly french / english newspaper. Cat
For the full story you might like to read to quote from Mathilde Maufras, spokeswoman for the Caisse Nationale d'Assurance Maladie http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1016980/ShowPost.aspx
cooperlola
And I see, Cat, that the English speaking helpline is still contradicting this info. No wonder we are confused.
Cat
True Coops, but the English speaking helpline is only for the Manche area, and is not strictly speaking a national one. Different areas seem to be interpreting the changes in their own fashion, some of which contradict what is being said by the spokeswoman for the Caisse National.
