JSA Aude
For the past five years of living here our two older boys have been covered, while studying in London at uni, under our carte vitale and top up scheme. We did all correctly and informed the relevant departments when our older one left, but for some unknown reason the other, still at uni, has been wiped off the carte vitale. Have been to see the office who are now saying he should not have been on our healthcare regime at all but have a European Health Card from England. We put forward the point that this is his main residence when not studying and that he is still dependant on us financially. Have things changed recently for students not in France/over 18? Any help gratefully received!
cooperlola
I think your son is possibly affected by the "clean up" operation going on within the CMU system, which is being discussed at great length elsewhere on here. Have a look at BJSLIV's quote from the appropriate legislation at the bottom of this pagehttp://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/4/1014548/ShowPost.aspx#1014548where students are specifically mentioned. Will
It always used to be the case that an English student in France, for example, was covered under the E128 form, which is one of the forms that has ben superseded by the EHIC. So I think it is most likely correct that your son should use the CEAM (French EHIC) when overseas. A French carte vitale would not be recognised in Britain, whereas a CEAM issued by your CPAM would. Val_2
Just to say that my two at uni in France and french residents HAVE to have their OWN health cover via SMEBA or the other outfit for students. Our family cover no longer applies and they are given their own new Carte Vitales by SMEBA.
