woolybanana
My elder daughter is a clinical psychologist in Belgium. Part of her work is counselling and supporting patients who finally have a gastic ring placed round their stomachs to reduce the size so they can eat less, normally when they have a BMI of 40 plus. This counselling is a legal requirement and patients may only go for surgery after a favourable report but doctors have been wilfully ignoring it to the extent that they have advised these seriously ill people to 'go away and put on another 10kg then you will be fat enough for the operation'.She has just resigned. Coincidentally, the BBC reported this http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7658410.stmIt is worrying that such a procedure is now being abused for financial gain and because of doctors' arrogance.
