Clair
Anyone who has spent more than 12 months in GB between 1980 and 1996 will be turned away as a blood donor (risk of CJD).
Pads
Clair do you know if that still holds even if you are a veggie ?
Âme
I just trawled a couple of previous threads, and from those it would appear that, yes, it holds for vegetarians.
Clair
From experience, the form asks where you lived, not what you ate...
AnOther
Beggars can't be choosers comes to mind and a plea like this sounds pretty desperate.I think if I were the intended recipient where the blood was coming from would not be uppermost in my mind ! Cat
Disgracefully, it's a Christmas hoax (the name Noélie gives a clue) [:@] It's been doing the rounds since 2003, and although the poor child did receive treatment in 2003, she died in 2004.http://www.hoaxkiller.fr/hoax/2003/leucemie_noelie.htmI'm not a member of Total France, but if someone could pass the news on, it would save people worrying needlessly. Scooby
I had suspicions Cat, A- isn't a particularly rare blood group 7% of the population are in this group.
Âme
In Cat's link, it says that L’Etablissement Français des Greffes do not wish calls, for any kind of transplant, to be communicated by email. They are statistically ineffective, sometimes erroneous and disrupt the services due to the number of telephone calls generated. So now I know.
