Clair Posted March 6, 2009 Share Posted March 6, 2009 No, your carte vitale it will not cover you outside France.For travel within the EU, you need the French equivalent of the EHIC, which is called carte européenne d'assurance maladie (CEAM).Details here: http://www.ameli.fr/assures/droits-et-demarches/a-l-etranger/vacances/vous-partez-en-vacances-en-europe.phpThis will give you the same level of cover as Spanish residents receive.You may also choose to pay for travel insurance for repatriation to France in case of an accident.
