Philouis
I have full health cover plus top-up insurance. If I have a knee replacement operation, do I have to contribute any other payment towards it?
Clair
It would very much depend on your mutuelle cover. Some policies cover a % over the agreed rate for specialised costs charged by an anaesthetist; some charge a maximum per hospitalisation. Most pay for the daily hospital fee (currently €16 per day), some don't.If you have cover for a private room, use it, but do check how much it is first, as some mutuelles have a max daily rate.Extras not usually covered are television and telephone in the room, although they are sometimes available in your room even if you do not request them. This may help (in French): http://www.ameli.fr/fileadmin/user_upload/documents/Vous_allez_etre_hospitalise_nov2007.pdf
