Megan le Fey
I have just received this letter from l'Assurance Maladie, Indre. My French is what my doctor describes as "survival French" ( minimal to say the least) but I think that the letter is saying that I no longer have any rights under l'Assurance Maladie and to return my Carte Vitale immediately.'MadameN'ayant plus de droits a notre caisse, vous voudrez bien m'adresser par retour du courrier votre carte vitale, accompagnee de la presente lettre'.I telephoned and was asked (I think) where I worked, if I was retired then when did I last work and so on.......... I was then told ( I think) that if I had never worked in France I was not entitled to belong to the French system. I mentioned that I had submitted an E121 properly as required but she just repeated that I had no rights under l'Assurance Maladie. Has anyone any idea what it may be about please. I have to get it sorted out soon as my husband has Alzheimers and when I looked at our account on the website I see that although he also presented an E121, he is listed as my dependent which means that he also would appear to be excluded. Cat
I don't know how long you've been living in France, but there are plenty of links on Cooperlola's website that should help point you in the right direction...http://www.frenchhealthissues.eu/existing_residents/entitled_to_cover.htmIf you have a valid E121 you should still be entitled to health cover...http://www.frenchhealthissues.eu/existing_residents/entitled_to_cover.htm#If_you_have_a_valid_form_E121_

Megan le Fey
Has your husband only recently registered his own E121?
No, we registered them both at the same time. We lived here for about six years, went to UK for just five & half months and then returned to France a year ago but to a different department. When we returned we gave the new local Caisse new forms E121. We had already submitted forms when we first arrived in 2002. Somehow he ended up as my dependent.Thank you Cathy, when I posted I was in a complete panic but now I have calmed down (slightly[8-)]) I will look at CooperLola's website. I guess I will have to go the the Caisse in the end.
Patf
I thought that possibly they were going to change him from being your dependent to being insured in his own right. If so he might need to surrender his old CV and eventually get a new one. This is going to happen to my husband, who has just turned 65. Up to now he has been insured as my "dependent" on my E121As you say , it looks like a visit to CPAM is necessary.
Megan le Fey
Well, I won't get too excited but all seems to be resolved. Another phone call got the answer that they had never had an E121 for me, despite the fact that I remember quite clearly taking it in along with my husband's and I have subsequently had the usual rights ever since. She asked me to get a new one which I duly did and I took it in today together with a new one for OH. She told me that she only needed one for me and that they had had OH's since last year. I kept my cool and told her that I had taken in both of them, together, at the same time, and had given them to the guy with bigger teeth than last years Grand National winner and was it not possible that they had simply lost or mis-filed mine? (Didn't really mention the teeth[:D]). She looked at her computer for a long time then she scooped up all the docs that I had brought and went up to the upstairs office. When she came down again she gave me back all the stuff I had brought with me including the two copies of the E121s, said that everything was fine and that "they" must have crossed in the post. So there you go, and so much for stressing myself out, phoning UK twice, phoning CPAM three times and eventually going there, having to find parking in a little back street and of course, [:D]bothering you lot again with my troubles. Thanks all for the replies.
