Chancer
I have some friends moving to France, he is fluent and had lived here for many years, on the phone last night he was of the opinion that they would be able to join the CMU when their E-forms ran out and that he couldnt find anything to confirm what I and others had told him about the changes since 2007 specifically the 5 year regulation. He has sent me a link to one of the first pages of the CMU website which repudiates what I thought was the situation, it is below but I could not delete all te stuff to the left of the relevant text:CMU de base : y avez-vous droit ? Cette condition est applicable à tous, français ou étrangers.I have read through every other relevant page on the site and cant find anything contradictory, has the situation been challenged and the change of policy reversed? Has the web-site never been changed, after all the furore that would surprise me.If you can confirm that it is an ongoing web site cock up then could you please give me some relevant links to forward to him, naturally he tends to believe the official web-site and even knowing France like he does he doesnt think it would be wrong 2 years after the event, that is why I am posting and didnt give him a link to the site that Cooperlola and others set up.Thank you. Jako
No u-turn, no change. Click here: ameli.fr:
Chancer
Yes I understand that it is contradictory but how do you know which one is right or that there hasnt been a U turn ?Editted.Having read your link carefully I see that the key word is inactif, the CMU site does not use that word and is therefore probably correct although misleading.I will forward your link, thanks again
Sunday Driver
The situation regarding the 2007 changes were set out in Letter No 29 du Fonds de Financement de la Couverture Maladie Universelle which can be found in the archives section of that CMU website. The relevant section is on page 4.http://www.cmu.fr/userdocs/cmu29.pdfIf he wants it 'from the horse's mouth' as it were, then here is the original DSS circular:http://www.securite-sociale.fr/comprendre/europe/europe/0711123_circ_dss_cmu_ue.pdf
cooperlola
When I look at the Amelie site I see that if you're not careful to read right to the bit Jacko mentions, you might well be misled even then. The first couple of paragraphs seem to imply that just three months' stable residence is all you need and then it quite clearly withdraws this further down for inactifs. The CMU site is incomplete at best - well the introductory pages anyway. As S/D says, best to refer them to the original documents. There was news recently that the EU commission was looking into the French government's stance on the EU free movement legislation but I've heard nothing for a few months. These things do take forever.
Chancer
I sent him the link but he had already phoned the CMU and been given the good news!
cooperlola
If, as you say, he has lived here for many years in the past then he may have some French social security entitlement he can revive from a past employment? I don't know anything about this side of things at all - just a passing thought!
