Richard
My wife has taken early retirement, and is living virtually full time in France. I am still working in the UK and split my time 50/50 between the two.Anyone know the difference between health care obtained via the EHIC, and that which would be obtained if I complete an S1 form ( or E106/E109 in old money). Thanks
cooperlola
The EHIC is for residents of one EU country who are on holiday in another. It has other fringe benefits and uses but that is what it is for in the main. The S forms are for residents of one EU member state living and/or working in another. You need to approach HMRC (not the DWP as you are not retired) for an S1 - what used to be the workers' E106 for you and and the E109 for dependents. AnOther does just this and hopefully will be able to explain further but that's it in a nutshell. Regardless, the EHIC is inappropriate for your circumstances.
