Geranium
We're leaving our house in France and visiting London for 3 months. Acanadian couple are taking care of everything and looking after ourcats while we're away, saving us fees and worry about pet care. They'llkeep our place warm and secure, take messages and forward mail. Inreturn they get free acommodation in an area they want to explore. We'd like to do the same for someone in London as we think it is theperfect win-win situation. Does anyone know someone who will be awayfor any length of time in January, February or March? Or perhaps youhave an idea as to where we might advertise.Any suggestions are appreciated. We're a professional couple who usedto live in north London so know what to expect. We've got referencesand have also been CRB checked as my husband is a school governor. Wejust want to spend some time back in London, seeing more of our kidsand new grand-child. Thanks for any advice, contacts or ideas!

odile
The Lady magazine is pretty dire - but full of adverts for house/pet sitting + agencies for same. Bonne chance.
Bastet
You might want to look at these websites for house-sitting. You can register as house-sitters and wait for the offers to flood in...!!www.housecarers.comwww.mindmyhouse.co.uk
cooperlola
You can find, though, that house sitting via a specialist company is very restricting, due to the limitations of their insurance (a necessity if they are legit'.) A friend of mine used to do this a lot and couldn't leave the houses unoccupied for more than two or three hours at a time so this may not suit the o/p. Bastet
These are not companies, but sites offering home owners and sitters the opportunities to contact each other directly. Whatever arrangements are made between the sitters and sittees are private. The sites offer guidelines as to basic contracts and agreements etc. if the parties so wish. Besides, most insurance companies would be happier to have a home occupied than not..If you look at them, you'll see what I mean.
