NormanH
As you know there are two classes of specialist, those conventionné secteur 1 who agree to charge the basic tarif set by the Securité Sociale, and those in secteur 2 who are free to charge what they see fit. (Libre doesn't mean free [:)] )Some of these latter have been charging up to 6 times the tarif de base. You would be hard pressed to find a Mutuelle who covered that! These two case were in the Gard, but as it says there are even more in richer areas such as Paris or the Cote d'Azur..http://www.midilibre.fr/2012/02/02/tarifs-abusifs-deux-medecins-gardois-epingles,452256.php
idun
Not surprised, I know it put a friend off seeing a surgeon who had an excellent reputation, as his depassement were far more than her mutualist would pay.
cooperlola
When I first took out my top up policy, the "best" one my insurer did was a 300% version. Now they do a 500% one. Says a lot.(Oh, and I beg to differ, Norman. Libre does mean free - although it doesn't mean gratis.[:D])
