NormanH
"The country is going through an economic downturn at the moment, with property prices falling through the floor as the cost of living and unemployment rises"That is France by the way...although some may recognise the symptoms... Pads
What a great oppertunity for a group of friends/ family to start there own community. if just say 20 people put in 100k each to live there , they could turn it into a great place to live . especially with the right people with the right skills , builder, butcher , gardener, electrician. chef to run resturant to bring money in , start a B&B ect .... Grow own food, raise animals , forrest for wood , solar panels for electric. With the right people it could be a fanastic way of living in the future

I don't think communal type living suits many as there are always those who don't want to do their fair share, or who want to boss others around etc.
just john
But surely one look at the pics tell what an unlovable place the village is, hardly surprising no-one bid at the auction, there are so many other more worthy villages, methinks the price can only continue to fall. Pads
Only because its winter , over grown and unloved , with some imagination and work it could be made very nice ... I think the biggest problem would be the taxes payable and other bills that would put people off .If I had the money to put into it I for one would love my own village . P-D de Rouffignac
Prices are NOT falling through the floor in France. I do wish those who write about France would do their homework and take the trouble to investigate the real situation. Heaven knows, there is enough research easily accessible. P-D de R. NormanH
I was of course quoting that Bible of all knowledge on things French, the Daily Mail.A more informed view is probably that of Notaires who deal with the sales http://www.immonot.com/tendance-marche-immobilier-notaire.html
Joe
Surely the daily Mail were reporting on a news item?Mind you they could have made it up.It would be just like them to do that would it not?You know what these Tory papers are like. Val_2
I thought it looked a right dump to be honest and in the middle of nowhere too hence why no one wants it! Perhaps make a french Butlins Holiday camp as there is a swimming pool insitu and some of the buildings look like the untilitarian ones that holiday camps had in the old days LOL.
