Gardian
Just received an email from a French friend who tends to use a sort-of texting shorthand in her communications." ................ la soeur (de) Louis AVC est DCD".The DCD bit is that Louis' sister has died, but the AVC? It wouldn't be from a stroke, would it?Thanks in advance.

NormanH
Betty is right that an AVC is a stroke, but the order of the phrase is a bit odd...
Gardian
Thanks everybody - it certainly sounds like it was a stroke. Her writing style mirrors her spoken delivery - a bit staccato! They've had a rough old week - Louis' elderly father died last Monday and they went straight up to Lyon to deal with the funeral and his effects. They got back on Sunday, and his sister died yesterday so they're back up there again.
