John Brown
My doctor has prescribed a Diabetes Tester to monitor my glycemique levels for the next 2 months. Both my parents developed Type 2 later in life ( both 89 ) so it will be no surprise if it happens to me eventuallyI've started this morningThe readings are displayed differently in France ( I hope ) or is it just that the decimal point is not used hereAnyone know what are the "normal" readings should be, or the range thats OKThanks JB
woolybanana
My doctor is happy with anything under 7.0 mmol but UK doctors seem to prefer 6.0 mmol . I try for an average of just under 5.7 or 5.8. You should be given free six monthly blood tests which will give you an average over the last three months.Take your daily readings for a while but after a bit you will have a pretty good idea of what they are likely to be based on diet.Hope this helps. John Brown
Thanks WoolyI've emailed the maker of the tester ( Lifescan )and they've attached the pdf English manual to their replyI've now decovered that the menu lets you change from mg/dL to mmol and to English Tabs but I'll check with my French Doctor first to see if he will accept 2 months of readings in mg/dL.I need the safe parameters in mg/dL if I'm going to keep it as it camebtw This is, in a way, to rule out diabetes as a cause of my symtomsThanks JB
