Pickles
The Senate has voted through a potentially excellent idea on an experimental basis to provide hotel-like accommodation near hospitals to improve efficiency and reduce overall costs of providing health treatment - in this case the ancillary costs. Other places have tried this and it can work very well.http://www.midilibre.fr/2014/10/24/feu-vert-de-l-assemblee-a-l-experimentation-d-hotels-hospitaliers,1071057.php
NormanH
I have thought that this is necessary for a long time. Stops blocking up wards once treatment has been given but before you are totally independent.
idun
So what would the difference be between sanitoriums/convalescent homes? We had a few of these in our old region, as I have visited people in them, well enough not to be in hospital, but in need of 're-education' and some medical care. They were not next to the hospital, but were IMO hospitals never the less, I suppose a little like what I remember as being a cottage hospital.
