Children3
I'm taking my laptop to France at Christmas for the first time & just want to make sure I have no problem loging on?I am currently with BTopenworld. Do I need to get a new internet provider?
Mazan
You will indeed need a new ISP, if only to keep costs down though you can always make international calls to the UK for access, if you like.I posted a long message here some months back that gave specific information about how to configure this. This page is also of interest:http://www.frenchentree.com/fe-lavie/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=
Mikew
Sign yourself up with a provider via the internet before you go to France, someone like Free.fr or libertysurf.fr, so that you are ready to log on when you arrive. (they may insist in sending you the log on details and passwords by post to your french address). You may not be able to log on to your UK provider from abroad, as the number may not be recognised from France, but you should be able to download youe e-mail over the net. You will be able to send via your new provider.Mike
gynfreeman
As long as you know the address you will be staying at in France I would recommend you sign up to Free.fr. You can either do pay-as-you-go or forfait-50 (unlikely this will be suitable if you're only there for Christmas). They send you out - almost by return of post - details of the password and access number. Do it now and it will be there waiting for you when you get there. Once you you are on line, you can, of course, access you current email in the usual way.paul
