2 channels a la fois?

Recommended Posts

Now I know this is greedy but then it is Christmas!!
It seems to me that there is either nothing worthwhile to watch on tv or else there are 2 really good programmes on at the same time. What would it take to be able to watch one channel and record another at the same time? Have heard talk of a new thingy (a digibox is it?) that uses dvd technology but dont understand it. Or, could we just buy another digibox or would we then need another satellite dish too?
At the moment, this is our setup:
Downstairs: nice big tv, digibox, 2 videos (we can record on one while watching a prerecording on the other - very useful as long as you build up a bit of a library of recordings that you want to watch) and a satellite dish outside.
Upstairs: small combi tv/video and a dvd player. Tv only does french of course at the moment and we really only use this room to play music videos or dvds.
All advice gratefully received.

To record one sat channel whilst watching another requires two tuners though they will run off one dish, with modifications.

You can get two tuners either by having two digiboxes or by using a Sky+, which has two tuners built-in. The Sky+ also has a hard drive and it will record two things at the same time and play them back later. If you already have a Sky subscription of 30 or more then using the Sky+ is free of extra charge, otherwise it is 10 per month. You do need to buy it though (200) and the dish will need a 50 modification and a second cable run.

If you have a Sky digibox and a valid card then chs 998 and 999 explain more about the Sky+.
