sueg
When my hard-drive appeared to die a helpful friend sorted the problem - a disconnected lead - but, in the process, he got rid of the 'stand by' option from the Start/Shut down menu. He said it caused problems with Windows 98SE. As 'stand by' was an option I had used a lot and not had problems with I would like it back but .... I have searched everywhere and cannot find a way to make this option reappear. Can anyone offer any helpful advice?Sue
BJSLIV
Follow the sequence of menus Settings, Control Panel, Power Options, and that will lead to a variety of choices as to if, when, & how quickly the machine goes t.o sleeeeeeeeeeeep. Some people do find problems in waking up the machine after standby, which can lead to lots of disc-scanning etc etc.
