multi scart leads

Recommended Posts

over the past couple of months we have accumilated a satelite system and a dvd player. to watch uk tv channels we have the scart lead from the decoder to the tv, we now have the dvd with a scart which if we want to view a dvd has to replace the decoder , sorry it confuses me as well, so today I saw a bank o scart leads ,where I thought if i put the plug end inthe tv and the other leads (from dvd ,decoder etc into the bank...like a multi plug ) I had sorted the probem, but i havent! the dvd plays as if not tuned in properly ,and the sat doesnt work at all, have I bought a faulty socket or missed a step somewhere,(why i want uk tv is beyond me,after watching changing rooms last night, just a jolly for the boys and girls!)

Did you try one at a time to check you had the leads properly pushed in and seated ? Tried a cheap lead on my cheap portable in France and could only make it work satisfactorily by turning either digibox or video player off completely ( unplugging not just in standby) . Detailed explanation of why this is on Satcure site below. ( NB my digibox now has a two pole switch in its lead so that I can isolate it to reboot without unplugging )

Assuming you have a sky digibox and do not also have a VCR have you tried using a scart from the DVD to the VCR in socket on the digibox then a scart from the digibox to the TV ? If you really want to switch sources without unplugging then switched boxes a described on Satcure site will do the job. The satcure site also explains some of the problems of using linked scarts and proposes some solutions involving cutting individual pins in the scarts
