Interactive TV in France - views needed?

Hi

I hope that those that do live in France might be able to help with this. I'm interested to know what level of interactivity you get from French TV Broadcasters, whether by traditional TV or over Satelite.

If you take the BBC for example they offer a high degree of further functionality by pressing the red button ie you get loads more info on the subject you are viewing.

Also, what level of paid for services appear on French TV, gambling for example? Arcade style games? Much like the Sky Games menu u have in UK.

Any help much appreciated, will be moving to France next year, family and business, but want to find out as much from a users view as poss rather than what the TV companies want to tell you.
