Krill
Why do we lose half our sky channels when it rains hard, we have new cable and a new box but the dish is a small one and about 6 years old, would a larger dish help? Thanks in advanceChriswww.vienneholidays.com
Jackie
Others more knowledgeable than I will no doubt respond to this but for what it is worth here is an account of our experience. When we have heavy rain between our dish and the satellite we loose signal. This does not happen very often. This happened in the UK as well. Signal quality and strength should indicate well above the K in OK when using the appropriate Services function on the SKY box. A weak signal due to slight misalignment of the dish would make the problem worse. A larger dish may be more difficult to align although would give a stronger signal, our little SKY oval dish is quite adequate for Dept 79..........John
Gwynydd
>Why do we lose half our >sky channels when it rains >hard, Assuming that you dont have the branch of a tree wafting in front of your dish, then the likely cause is misalignment of the dish. It may have moved with time or never been right from the start. You need to use a meter which measures Bit Error Rate for a perfect alignment and only the pros will have these as they are very expensive. But you'll notice the difference when it rains.
