Washy
France telecom came yesterday to connect a friend of ours, then said the town hall said they could not make the connection as they did not want any more pylons in the area. Has anyone else had experience of this type of refusal? We had a line put up a 10 years ago, no problem, Telecom were very efficient and put up 7 pylons (wooden) in a couple of hours to our caravan! Also our friends were told that they would have to foot the bill themselves if they wanted a radio/satellite set up, or for the wires to be run underground. Again has anyone done this, and know about costs feasibility?EDF have just recently put a very ugly pylon in the same area quite near to our friends but they have now been quoted 30,000 euros to bring electricity from the village???? Maybe a bit of village mafia involved here......
BJSLIV
Many villages have spent a lot on money putting cables both electric and telecom underground. We arrived about five years after this had been done in our area. To serve our new house would have been a simple job, using one pole. To maintain the visual harmony the cable had to go underground, entailing a simple road crossing in a country lane. We were required to pay the additional cost. The technician who carried out the survey was veryhelpful and tried many optionsto keep the cost as low as possible.
