Ianhaycox
There is no reason why you can't keep your email address in the UK, the only problem is ensuring it remains active. I'm assuming you have an address like aaa@fsnet.co.uk and use Freeserve to dial up. You can still access your mail via the Freeserve web interface using a local French ISP, e.g. Wanadoo. The only danger is if you don't dial-up your UK 0845.... Freeserve number for 30/60 days they may delete the account and address. The best solution is a buy a domain name e.g. helen.com and then all mail sent to something@helen.com can be redirected to your current ISP in whatever country you are in. You keep your domain name for life(?) but can change ISP's and still retain the same email address.Clear as mud ?
Richard-R
I found using yahoo.com a good(100mb free) move. For a couple of months on my old pay account i set up an auto reply, i.e. new address is ............@yahoo.com and still do. Most ISP's seem for some reason to keep your email account open long after you have stopped using them. I now filter my yahoo accounts via cashette.com which as pop access and a very good spam filter.
Time<%@ Page Language="C#" %><%= Request.Browser.Browser %>
As someone mentioned, if you intend to keep the isp-subscription, then this can be achieved easily.. simply set-up your email client to check pop.isp.com for your email, and to send email from the adress use smtp.newisp.comTim
CBC
Why not use an @fsmail.net address, accessible from anywhere?Rabbit
moon
Wanadoo now owns Freeserve. If you go to www.freeserve.co.uk you get transferred automatically to wanadoo. Therefore see if you can keep email addie by taking a wanadoo.fr subscription. Check with wanadoo.Bob
Dick Smith
I don't know if this is possible for you, but I have 3 email accounts which I use from time to time (apart from work and some specialised ones) = Bluyonder, Demon and Free.fr. In Entourage (I think that's Outlook to Windoze types) I have set up an account for each one. When I command 'send and receive, all accounts', Entourage picks up mail from all 3. I just connect to a provider (Blueyonder in UK, Free.Fr in France) and pull them all down through webmail.

Coral
I have a second email address with virgin.net (dial-up account)but I have had no probs with not using it for 3-4 months at a time as I am on the other side of the world at the moment. They quite happily take the charge from my credit card. The only time I had any noise from them was when I had my card nicked and changed the number without letting them know.Mail2web.com is quite a good means of access.Coral
Jonzjob
"I now filter my yahoo accounts via cashette.com which as pop access and a very good spam filter.Richard (AUDE)"Hi Richard (Aude) this is John (Aude), 5 weeks now. How would I go about using a filter like that. The original question was can I keep my U.K. e-mail address. I would love to know how I get rid of mine? I am getting so much spam it ain't real... I changed from Freeserve/Wanadoo U.K. to W/doo France and I'm still getting the U.K. address mail. When we moved over I asked if I could just transfere from W/doo U.K. to the French one and was told that they are 2 entirely different companies and I would have to ditch the U.K. one and sign up here with the French one? So there should be no connection between the 2...John (confused, but warm in the Aude)
