ADSL Prospects?

I'm probably deluding myself, but... we got a call from FT the other evening (right in the middle of dinner, so I didn't get time to put brain in gear to ask him before the call was over), just three questions:

Do you have a computer?

Do you use the internet?

Who's your ISP?

Anyone else had this call - I'm hoping it could mean they're gauging potential demand for ADSL in the area?

They may be doing that, or just trying to flog you Wannadoo.

You should ask at your Mairie about this. Often if enough people petition and say that they will sign up it gets done. That is what we did in our village.

As TeamedUp says, if you get more than 100 signatures France Telecom claim they will install ADSL. In practise though they have been ignoring these petitions where it would be unprofitable to do so.

Thanks for that. The 2nd link isn't working at the moment but we're a mile or so out of the village (population 450-odd, & currently *1* household expressing an interest in ADSL so a hundred's pushing it!)

Yep, had the very call call, I got chatting to the girl on the phone. Just a way for them to target sending out wanado-do cd's and checking if you would sign up for some 'Special Offers' for long distance phone calls. It's farmed out from FT so the same person may phone you next week tring to flog ( a dead horse) insurance or such like.
