Anna
HiHave received the following message from an email address named "noreply@aol.com""We have found that your email account was used to send a large amount of spam messages during this week.Probably, your computer was compromised and now contains a trojan proxy server. Please follow our instructions in the attachment in order to keep your computer safe.Have a nice day,The aol.com support team."Should I do as this says and open the attachment? M
NO!Never, under any circumstances, open an attachment unless you know what it contains and know personally who sent it. Just because yours says it's from aol, is no guarantee that it is genuine. Delete the email, then selete it again from your deleted emails folder, then run a full scan with whatever anti-virus software you are using. It is almost certainly either a hoax, or here will be a virus in the attachment. DO NOT CLICK ON IT!regards, Malcolm

Mazan
Messages like these are always a virus or a spoof or some sort of scam.Bin it.Install a decent antivirus package and a malware scanner like Ad-Aware. Keep both bang up to date.
Dick Smith
Certainly never answer any email which looks like this - it seems to be the Win32.Mydoom.O worm.If you are unsure, do nothing and check with one of the internet sites which describe all current viruses worms and other nasties. You can also pick out a chunk of the text and do a Google on it (inside inverted commas) and that should show up whether or not it is dangerous.http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/virus.aspx?id=39711http://www.symantec.com/index.htm

Leschenauds
Agree wholeheartedly with the other posters. Once a week, I run (in this order) 1)Spybot S&D 2)Adaware and 3) AVG antivirus. All downloaded and all free (my favourite price). If you still have problems try an online scan from Trend Housecall - It takes some time to load and scan but seems to be the most thorough option.Your best bet for answers to PC problems is www.windowsbbs.com, again, free but VERY helpful.
