Topping up while in England

I have an Orange France topup sim.

How can I topup while in UK?

Noticed you having similar topup problems.

I am not sure that it possible with a French registered phone, with an UK Orange phone you can top up anywhere in the world just by dialing 450. I suggest you could either try dialing 450 from your phone and if that will not connect try dialing 07973 100 450 from any other phone where they may be able to help. You may be asked for your four-digit customer ID number  (this is the number you gave when you registered your phone), this may only apply to UK registered phones.

You will not be able to top up an Orange France mobile using an Orange UK top up voucher.

 

If you want to use your French mobile in the UK you should make sure that you have plenty of credit on the phone before you travel.  Remember you will pay to receive calls when you are in the UK with your French mobile.

 

If you’re mainly going to use the phone to make calls within the UK it will be cheaper to buy a UK Pay As You Go SIM card and put that in your phone when you’re visiting the UK.  (With UK SIMs you only have to make a quick chargeable call every 3 months to keep the number active, so you’ll be able to use it again the next time you visit – you can make the call from France if necessary).

 

Your choice of UK network will be dictated by whether your mobile is network locked.  If yours is Orange branded it will be locked to the Orange France network.  An Orange UK SIM should work in your phone but you should ask the shop to try one first.  If your phone is unlocked then you can buy any SIM.  There’s not a huge difference in landline call charges between the networks but Orange (25p pm) and Virgin (40p pm) are the cheapest networks to use for calls back to France.

 

You can buy Orange PAYG SIMs from shops such as The Link and Carphone Warehouse from £7.99 at the moment, the other networks are around £10.
