Suninfrance
Any computer wizards out there?I recently had a major crash on my PC which included some b* infecting it with a Trojan (Spooner-A) and a web page hijacker. My Norton Anti-Virus and Firewall didn't pick up the Trojan.Anyway - I've dug out my old PC and got that up and running (obviously), and I've done all my settings on Norton. However, now I can't open ANY attachments in e-mails. Not that I want to open all of them, but we have an ongoing situation with a solicitor in England who attaches their letters to e-mails and now I can't read them.I have a feeling it might be something to do with the Norton Firewall settings, but not being the brightest sparkler in the pack and a PC technical idiot, does anyone have any ideas where I might be going wrong? Perhaps I've got something turned ON that should be turned OFF.HELPJan
Cat
Hi JanAre you getting any kind of error message when you try to open the attachments? Are you running Outlook express for your emails, or something else?
Suninfrance
Hi CathyNo, I'm not getting any error messages. When I click on the paperclip for the attachment, the list is "grey" as opposed to "black" which means the attachment is there but I can't get to it.I'm currently running Outlook Express 6. Guest CFrost
In OE6 click on 'tools' then 'options' select security tab and clear 'do not allow attachments to be saved....' Could be the problem.
Suninfrance
Spot on - that did the trick - I knew it would be something simple, but I just end up getting a headache trying to think of everything I have to check to get the PC running smoothly. Thanks Scorpio and Cathy for your help.Jan
