Cheaper calls while abroad on Vodafone

Recommended Posts

Vodafone UK have introduced a new tariff, Vodafone Passport, for UK customers roaming abroad with their Contact or Pay As You Go mobiles which gives cheaper call prices while abroad if your typical calls last more than a couple of minutes (compare Vodafone Passport charges with Vodafone World charges if you only make very short calls).

The way it works is you pay a 75p per call connection charge and then you are charged as if you were using your mobile in the UK.

So, if you are on a Contract, and have available minutes on your tariff, all you would pay is the 75p per call connection charge for calls up to the total of your unused minutes.  If you have over 60 minutes available, a one hour call would cost 75p!  (Additional charges apply to single calls over 60 minutes, see t&c’s on Vodafone website).

If you are on Pay As You Talk, you would pay the 75p connection charge then your normal rate.

Receiving calls abroad are charged in the same way.

Note, you must use Vodafone’s “partner network” when abroad in order to obtain this deal.  Most mobiles by default will constantly search for the strongest local network signal when you are abroad – in France you must manually select SFR.  Details on how to do this will be in the instruction book for your mobile.

You need to dial 5555 from your handset to set up Vodafone Passport.
