Can anyone recommend a good package for preventing so much unwanted mail coming through, please?

I am currently trying out Qurb which puts all suspect mail into a box and then you tick any mail you want to receive to be forwarded to the normal Outlook Express.  Works fine, but is there a system that stops the seemingly endless stream of hardcore porn mail that seems to have been arriving in the last few weeks?  On reflection, I am not sure that I haven't suffered from far more porn since I signed up for Qurb!!

In my five weeks of trial I have received around 600 unwanted mail.  I want to get free of it all!  HELP!

PS   I am on Wanadoo, and did try their system, but it was painfully slow to use.

I am reasonably happy with McAfee Spamkiller.

Probably not the cheapest around, but combined with their antivirus and firewall in the same package works fine and blocks all but the odd one of about 20-30 spam messages a day.

Idiot-proof download and fine tuning too!

Well, first of all I'd use a different e-mail client!  Have you tried Eudora - more user-friendly, less prone to viruses, more flexible, pretty good Junk Filter.  The paid-for version also has a useful ScamWatch facility.  Alternatively you could try Mail Washer; like all such programs it needs a fair bit of "education" to start with but it works well.  You might also check out Quick Delete, it's a freebie which lets you see what's in your mailbox before you download it, so can allow you to remove mails which have gummed up the system etc - also useful if you pick up mail from a PDA/Blackberry/why.

You may want to consider using Hotmail as they have made tremendous efforts to stop SPAM as well as many other improvements including recently new powerful spam filters and enhanced virus scanning & cleaning. They filter virtually all SPAM into your Junk Mail box which remains there if you do nothing for 5 days, alternatively if you want to remove it you can at the same time report it as SPAM all in one movement. If you get a proper email filtered into the Junk box, just click the non junk box and it will registered as a safe mail and always then be delivered to you. The system used by Hotmail is so good that I now get no more than a couple of SPAM mails in my  Inbox a week.

I know people have complained about Hotmail in the past, but I have stuck with them for  over 8 years and have been impressed with all their improvements. They now let you have have  a huge 250MB inbox and the ability to send up to 10MB files or photos and for free.

I also agree that Mailwasher is an excellent tool if you are unsure of an email.
