Rent property with gîte/B&B potential or Edinburgh home exchange option - from April 2013.

Hello

My husband and I are planning a year out in France from

April 2013 and wondered if anyone is considering renting out a property which

has gîte or B&B potential. Or can point us in the right direction.

We are a professional couple from Scotland with a two year

old son. My husband is a chartered surveyor and I run an online business from

home. I am a Francophile, having studied French at uni and spent a year in

Paris. We are in the process of selling our main home and we also rent out my

little mews house in Edinburgh as a holiday let. We have some time to spend

abroad before moving to my husbands’ family farm.

We would prefer to rent in the South of France, as far north

as La Rochelle (we’re Scottish, need sunshine :-) Ideally the property would be

furnished. Our intention would be to let out rooms during the summer months. We

have a budget of up to 1000€ in mind but obviously this completely depends on the

number of bedrooms and other amenities at the property.

My Edinburgh house is free from April 2013 so we would also

be open to a home exchange if that was an option. It is a lovely little mews in

I understand there has been a lot of concern on the site regarding

long term lets and the risks around this. I’d like to ensure you that we are a

genuine family with good references, we are happy to come and meet face to face

before signing a lease. We have been burnt by non-paying tenants ourselves before

and it was an extremely stressful time!
