Hi, I have a Compaq computer bought about 6 months ago, it has 256 meg ram and I would like to add another 256, my question is can I find the spec of the existing ram on screen so I can buy something compatable or do I have to look in the computer? I know which bit it is but what do I look for to find the spec? Many thanks in advance for any advice

Hi

I have successfully added more RAM on my HP Pavilion computer by going to http://www.crucial.com/uk/

They have a "test" area which should help determine what you have and how much you can add.

I’ve bought computer memory on a couple of occasions from http://www.crucial.com/uk/

and also memory cards for digital cameras.

Crucial is one of the big world-wide players in the memory market.  Their delivery service is very fast – the memory is shipped Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery service to UK addresses.  A friend had memory delivered from the UK to France in just 2 days.

As Clair says, their website allows you to enter your make / model and will tell you what type of memory you need and prices.  http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listProductLine.asp?cat=RAM&mfr=Compaq&submit=Go

Another 256 mb will make a big difference to your computer.  Buy more if you do a lot of image / video editing.

Their prices are competitive and I think they give a lifetime guarantee.

(If you are in France, select EU on their homepage for prices in €).
