Mr Coeur de Lion
Does anyone know of a cheap phone company that can carry calls from France to Australia?
Barrym
The cheapest would be Skype (ie free) - if you have broadband.....

Brilec
Assuming you want a normal telephone connection, this is one possibility.http://www.lesminutesdirect.com/Cob/lmd_fr/HomePage.asp?bhcp=
Ssc
I use www.phonexpat.com -for calls to the UK. Just checked thier rates to Oz and its 4.6 cents per min. Same 12 cent connection charge as FT. Calls anywhere in France 0.9 cents per minHave always found them reliable. Factures via e-mail and bi-lingual. No long term contract and no codes to dial . If you are interested I will post my referral code which gives both parties 240 free minutes. There are many other providers who have been mentioned in previous posts so its best to compare rate that suit you.Tony
Deimos
You could try TeleRabais – to Oz 1.4 cents per mi off-peak, 2.8 cents per min peak rate. No accounts, no pre-payment, just dial their prefix code and it is then automatically billed through whoever provides your phone service. No computers, just standard telephone to standard telephone. See http://www.telerabais.com/index2.php for details about them.Ian

I chose it because I don't want a separate invoice for billing. The slight hassle of dialling a full number prefix is fine for me.
