miaviv
Just got the second hand sky box (panasonic about which I've askedquestions on here)... which works ok when I plugged it in. However, I have put the card in the slot but I still can't get Channel4 and Five which I thought I would get without paying anysubscription. Do I need to let the machine and card "get to knoweach other" and sort of reboot with various channels (box been out ofaction for about a year) or will I just not get any of these channelsat all even with the card ?Thanks
Will
I had exactly the same thing with a Grundig box with expired subscription card that had not been used for a long time. You can try doing a forced software download, as described on the www.satcure.co.uk site (which I did), but you will probably find that the missing channels appear eventually. It may take a day or so. If they don't eventually appear, then it probably means that there is a problem with the card.
TheMistress
The card and box have to electronically linked by Sky!To get the info they require, with your card in the slot.Press services button, then press 4 then press 5You will be asked version numberViewing card numberSerial NumberBut best to take note of all, then phone it through to Sky FreeSat number, they will activate matching and within 4 to 5 hours normally all will be well!Remember not to tell them you and the box are in France!!RegardsNigel

If you go to 'services' 45 on the remote then the current versions of the operating system and the EPG software should be : -OS version: 1.2S4FEEPG Version: 3.4.4bDoing a 'hard reboot' will force the box to update its operating system software but won't do anything about the data held on the card which - in part - controls what is displayed on the EPG. For this you will simply have to leave it switched on (s/by will do) and eventually SKY will send a 'wakey-wakey' call to the card updating its data. Might take an hour, might equally take a couple of days. It's generally supposed that leaving the box switched to 501, Sky News will aid the process. Don't know how true this is, but it wouldn't hurt to try.p
