Ex Forum Admin
Hi,I would be interested to know if anyone reads digital magazines on screen rather than hard copy (paper) versions? I guess it is a good way of getting over delivery timescales etc or if the publication is only available in specific geographical regions?
Deimos
Even though I work in software development and tend to be used to using screens, etc., when I have to read something I tend to print it out. As an example, I’m currently studying a “distance learning” course and with their CD based material I always print it out to read. Thus for me, digital magazines would not be of great interest (as I’d just print them out at probably greater cost and lower quality than the printed version). One aspect is the importance of delivery delays. I subscribe to only one UK magazine (specialist) – that does include some info about things for the current month (star charts, events, etc.) yet the additional delivery delay does not worry me (though the “current” aspects are less important to me). As the delivery delay is pretty well the same each month, one ends-up getting a magazine each month. I suppose the delivery delays might be significant for e.g. a fast moving classified ads Market (e.g. Exchange and Mart, Thames Valley Trader, etc.)Just my own way of doing things.Ian
George
Have to say I often do the same and print things. It's ok for emails, forums and quick Help type screens but even that seems to take on a different and often easier meaning when printed. It's also convenient when printed of course and can't really see things like Microsoft Reader taking off, even for PDA's? The only plus side for me would seem to be the ability to search the contents and perhaps archiving..
