nom de plume
We have two phone lines to our house, to allow for a business, fax, broadband and the alarm being wired into a control center. Neither line will allow any phone to ring for more than 4 times before the answering service to cut in. If the mail box is full it only rings twice. We have tried every combination possible to overcome this. Finaly in desperation we have even read all the instruction books but still no luck.Firstly how do we get rid of what seems to be a French Telecom answering service and what should we do to allow the phones to ring until the caller decides to hang up?Thank you Diana
Ron Avery
First check it is the FT messagerie that is cutting in by dialling your own number. It does sound like your FT messagerie has been set to a very low cut off, I cannot lay my hands on the messagerie leaflet to see how you alter this but if you ask at your FT shop they have a leaflet, they do an English version if you need it. There is a number that you can dial and then you dial in the number of seconds you want before your messagerie cuts in. Or if your French is good, (the messagerie instructions are a challenge even to the French), you can try altering it or cancelling the message altogether. Try dialling 3103 and follow the instructions Good Luck[:D]

booboo
The answering service can be modified by multiples of 5 to 40 seconds (1 to 10 phone rings) you just need to follow these easy instructions found on the FT website: Décrochez votre combinéComposez le Puis exemple avec 30 pour 30 secondes soit environ 6 sonneries"Votre demande est acceptée et enregistrée" That means its accepted. Hope that helps!
