HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP Deleted Files!

Hope someone can help. I am not too bad understanding my computer however!! I had files in my documents on my hard drive and transferred them to CD unfortunately somehow I have deleted them from the CD and they are no longer on my hard drive is there anyway I can retrieve them?

I have tried system restore in the hope that would bring them back onto the hard drive but that has not worked. My recycle bin is empty so nothing to restore from there!

Any advice would be gratefully received if hubby finds out all these files are gone, boy am I in trouble!!

There are programs you can buy to get back lost files, if you do a google search.

I've never tried this so I don't know how well it works. Some one may know how to do it for free.

Get one of these programmes but do it soon. When you delete a file the actual data doesn't usually go straight away, simply the reference to it (the address) in the file allocation table. When you delete a file you are really saying "this particular place on the hard disk which has data on it, is now available to have something else written on top of it"  Which eventually the comuter will do, so the longer you leave it, the more likely it will be that the data will be lost for good.

http://aumha.org/downloads/restoration.exe this one is more simple to use.

Bear in mind Paul's post regarding do it sooner rather than later. It might actually be a good idea to undo the system restore that you tried...mmm...

Tried the pcinspector and it worked gosh am I pleased no need to tell hubby when he gets back from UK now.
