Jackie
On the subject of DVD players (again) I would welcome comments about the Philips DVDR 3460H which is available from C-Donner.com at a good price just now it would seem. Any experience of the machine or the supplier would be good to hear. Many thanks in anticipation........Jackie and John
Martin963
Well I don't know that one, but after experience with two Philips DVD recorders I would NEVER permit myself to buy another. Shockingly klutzy software, and unreliable recording (disc claimed as blank immediately after recording even though it will play back on another machine on which it wasn't burnt). The have a pretty poor reputation as recorders if you trawl through digital spy forum. Clair
I have had one for 15 months now without any problem. It links up with the Philips TV and the Philips VCR does the same.In fact, given the choice, I would prefer to buy Philips.
Bob T
I don't have a Philips PVR but the TV, Video, Sky box and PVR are all differnt makes. They all work togerther fine with scart leads. Would they work better if they were all the same make?
Baz
I cannot comment on Philips DVD recorders except to say they would not be included in my list of leading brands that I would consider. With all the leading brands introducing new models to the market every month the choice is vast. As technology is changing all the time, I think it is important to make a list of what you require from your player/recorder. I recently bought a Panasonic recorder after carrying out a lot of research before hand and what a fantastic machine it is. My requirements included the number and type of tuners (had to have a digital tuner), it had to have upscaling because I would be using it with a High Definition TV (upscaling involves boosting the picture quality of a DVD to near Hi-Def quality) and be multiregion. Most branded DVD players will not be multiregional unless purchased from specialist retailers who rechip the recorder and honour the guarantee, this it does not increase the price. I suggest that all the information required deciding on what to buy can be found by using Google, a little time investigating will save lots of money and ensure one make the right choice. Clair
My Philips TV, VCR and DVDR all "talk to each other" through what Philips calls EasyLink, which means any of the Philips remote controls will operate any of the Philips components. This is not related to Scart leads [:)]As an add-on to the original question, it does not look like the Philips DVDR3460H has Automatic satellite recording (look under Specifications/convenience)This could mean it will not receive the "record" signal from a programmed record on a Sky satellite box, but this might not be relevant to your needs...Compare it with this example to see what I mean (specifications/convenience again). I might be wrong, but that's what Philips replied when I queried my own DVDR with them...
