Ecossais
Good news for anyone on the 3 network. 3 has announced price reductions from the end of August on calls when roaming in Europe. From 30th August calls made from a European country to another European landline or mobile phone will be 25p per minute. Incoming calls will be 10p per minute. 3 is currently one of the most expensive networks to use abroad – calls from France back to the UK are 80ppm (£1 PAYG).More details: http://www.three.co.uk/personal/help_support_/network_coverage_/going_abroad_/abroadineurope.omp
Nick Trollope
You don't think this was anything to do with 3 do you? All the 'phone companies were told to reduce their charges by the EU an few months back.Good news, I suppose - but still more expensive than Orange France. Ecossais
Vodafone and O2’s international pricing is already quite reasonable compared to the others – so I guess there will be some announcements soon from Orange UK and T-Mobile about how they too are suddenly getting better terms from their foreign partners. As with 3, these will no doubt take effect after most people have had their summer holidays and used their mobiles abroad at higher prices! Is Orange France PAYG really cheaper than 3’s new pricing? If I’m reading the following correctly, it looks like calls within France on Orange France PAYG (24/7 tariff) are €0.55 per minute – more expensive than 3’s 25ppm for a call to any European mobile or landline. (See http://animation.orange.fr/fis/mobicarte.pdf ).
