Polremy
Can anyone out there tell me if I can use my own wireless router instead of renting an Orange Livebox? Thanks.
Danny
Yes, you should be able to use it. You won't be able to have Orange's VOIP calls without the Livebox though, if that is of interestDanny
Polremy
Ah thanks. That will be fine for us. We are opting for the a la carte offer so that we can cancel the service when we are away from France without any monthly payment or penalty. I do love this forum someone always answers your questions.
Danny
Check the conditions of cancelling and restarting - usually involves sending registered letters 1-2 months in advance etc and resatarting takes time to reconnect again...Danny
Polremy
Thanks again for thinking of me. I have a friend who spends only six months a year in France (like me) and she uses this system without any problem. (Famous last words!) That's why I wanted to use my own wireless router - so that i dont have to post it back to Orange every time I suspend the account. This friend also runs a "libre acces" account which apparently costs nothing, just the price of a phone call if she needs to use the internet when she returns to France and there is a delay in getting her "a la carte system" working again. She says it also enables her to receive e mails while she is away. All sounds fine in theory! Time will tell. The thing is, I want to move up to broadband and this seems to be the most economical in my situation. Am willing to be told otherwise of course.
