Martin963
Whilst I realise that they've tried to keep that site you mention simple, it is also woefully out of date in terms of transmitter operational information.Try alsohttp://www.csa.fr/pdf/carte_TNT.pdfandhttp://www.espace-numerique.fr/?current=5022andhttp://www.csa.fr/pdf/Liste-sites-phases-1-2-3-4-5-6_juin07_alpha.pdfwhich are more comprehensive. Martin963
To amplify what the sites above suggest:TNT (DTT) started later in France than in the UK but coverage is now up to the mid 60's% of the population. As in the UK, it is mainly the high power transmitters that have been equipped; however unlike the UK there are several important sites that are not operational for digital as there are no spare channels available. More and more sites are coming on stream as frequency clashes (mainly with the Swiss, the Belgians, and the Germans) are being resloved mutually by tweaking the present analogue channel allocations. If the transmitter from which you receive your analogue signal has already been equipped for TNT and if you get a very good analogue picture already, then the chances are that TNT will work fine via your exisitng aerial. Not always but mostly. However, many many areas of France are (for analogue TV) covered by non-TNT relays, and if your aerial is pointing at one of these sites then you will NOT get TNT.See what your neighbours are doing; having said that few here in Perigord have the faintest idea that the south west half of the dept is now on and working.
